The Answer to Goal Setting….?
I could never imagine my life without setting goals. It’s how I focus on what’s really important, that deadlines are met, and ensures I’m having fun along the way.
Did you know that goal-setting is one of the most searched keywords ever?
It’s a wonder that there’s loads of books, a bazillion blog posts and standard conversation topic. But is there one solution that really works for everyone? Absolutely not. That’s not overly helpful is it. But it’s true. Everyone learns at a different pace and in a different way. Why should goal setting be any different?
There are, however, a few common threads to keep in mind when setting goals to help you achieve those dreams for not only yourself but your business as well.
Let’s take a look at a few of them now:
Make You Jump for Joy
If, once you achieve the goal in mind, it doesn’t make you jump for joy… is it really worth achieving?
One Step at a Time
Many people get derailed early on in there goal setting, they have HUGE dreams (which is fantastic!), but when there is no step by step goal setting to reach the ultimate goal, the task can seem a bit daunting. This way you are achieving smaller goals, and jumping for joy after each is completed, making it much more fun and motivating when you finally achieve the end goal.
Don’t Forget to Celebrate!
It’s easy to get caught up in the every day rumblings. Achieve step one goal, check. Achieve step two goal, check. There’s still a long way to go before we reach step 10. Stop! Achieving step one is a fantastic achievement. Make sure to take a moment and truly appreciate what you’ve accomplished. Have a little party, go out for dinner, buy a Porsche… okay maybe not that last one.
Make a Plan – Every Day
If you’ve set out for yourself 5 different major goals, make sure your daily tasks are aligned with achieving those goals. Write them down. Stick them on your wall, your computer, your fridge, on the dog. Whatever helps!
Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff – Think BIG
Set backs can happen, obstacles will come in your way, try not to sweat it. Always strive to be better than you are today. Don’t be afraid to take risks and make mistakes. Reach those goals and enjoy life.
Your actionable this week: Write down one BIG goal and outline the tasks to achieve that goal. Make sure to celebrate the completion of each task.
I’d love for you to leave a comment and share with the community what your BIG goal is. Maybe you’ll inspire someone along the way.
