5 Tips on How to Market with Honesty
I can’t count how many times people say that they dislike marketing. That it seems like a sleazy, skeazy, manipulative way to generate a sale. As technology changes and we learn more about what the customer actually wants, what I like to call Modern Marketing has evolved. So throw out your sleazy marketing thoughts and think about how marketing with honesty is the new best policy.
It’s all about helping others not making money
Put your focus on your client and what you can do for them to help them in some way. People love to talk about themselves, so do businesses. If you put aside what your business wants and focus on what your customer wants they will appreciate the help, be excited that you’re talking about them and if it suits purchase the service and/or product that you are offering. But taking the focus off of money and making a sale and putting that focus on the client, everyone wins.
Inspire and instruct
People also like to be inspired. Inspired to go on that trip they’ve always wanted, to eat healthier, to go for that run, to make their business a success. By providing them the inspiration and knowledge that they need to achieve their goals, they will remember you and keep coming back for useful information and utilize what you are providing.
Honest communication and interaction
Gone are the days of one sided communication and smoke and mirrors type selling. Through the internet you can find anything about anyone person or company. If the information you are providing isn’t honest people will be able to easily see through you. Your marketing efforts should be two sided in an effort to engage your customers. When they reach out to communicate with you online, be sure to interact, start a dialogue.
Sell them what they want by giving them what they need
Steve Jobs once said “A lot of times, people don’t know what they want until you show it to them.” Generally people purchase a product or service because they have a problem that needs to be solved. They buy dish detergent because they need to clean their dishes. If you have a solution to a problem, make sure to let people know. They may be searching for a solution that you’ve already created. Or searching for a solution when you have something better to offer.
Market through class and integrity
Trashy advertising, pushy selling tactics and misleading marketing is no longer respected by consumers and easily gets lost in the jumble of information being provided to a single person on a daily basis. If you want to get noticed provide classy information with integrity. Something that is actually useful and not just fluff. Fluff blows away, but knowledge stays forever.
